Week 11

This past week was full of work, working on understanding equivalent fractions and the main ideas when reading passages and articles.

During science this week students created penny boats.  The object was to float as many pennies as possible on a boat made out of only an 8 X 6 piece of aluminum foil.  There was one group that actually got 115 pennies to float before their boat sank.  It was awesome to watch.  Below is the vlog that shows many of the boats.

Students also got to decorate my classroom.  I put full confidence in them and when students got done early with their assignment, they were able to decorate.  I was amazed at how many of the students wanted to do that.  They did have other options, but most wanted to put up decorations.  Some even brought them from home.  It was awesome.

Students should have spelling list 10 and should have turned in last week's homework.  This upcoming week, we will begin writing a research paper on a president of the United States.  They will also take that information and create a slide show presentation.  Should be a new learning experience for most of them.

On Wednesday there will be the traditional Halloween Parade.  It will begin at about 8:15 in the morning.  Note that students will need to bring a change of clothes, because they won't be allowed to wear their costume all day long.  Also students will not be able to wear masks or have any representation of a weapon.

As always let me know if you have any questions.  I sure have been having fun.  This week should be no exception.
