Third Grade Week 13-16
First a shout out to the parents who have come in to class to work with the kids on their research paper. That was a big help to a big need.
3rd Grade Week 12
Well Halloween is over, hopefully the sugar rush is over as well. We had a lot of fun this week. Below is the vlog and images from the week.
Week 11
This past week was full of work, working on understanding equivalent fractions and the main ideas when reading passages and articles.
During science this week students created penny boats. The object was to float as many pennies as possible on a boat made out of only an 8 X 6 piece of aluminum foil. There was one group that actually got 115 pennies to float before their boat sank. It was awesome to watch. Below is the vlog that shows many of the boats.
Third Grade Week 9 Again
I have decided to go back to week 9 again in the title so that it reflects what week we are actually at in the school year. I guess technically the first week of school was actually week 0.5 instead of a full week.
Third Grade Week 9
This week was full of energy as I tried to bring some of the High School Homecoming traditions to my classroom and have dress up days. Instead of individual images I created a bunch of different collages, because their dress was just amazing. Hopefully I included all of the images. Just scroll to the bottom to see them all.
Here is this weeks vlog.
Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler
I am attempting to digitally sign parents up for Parent Teacher Conferences. This is the first time I and a few other teachers are trying this. Just click the link below and pick your time. It will be on a first come first pick basis. If for some reason the form does not eliminate choices or two parents select the same date at the exact same time and I end up with duplicates, I might have to do a slight rearrangement. Hopefully that won't happen.
Digital Geoboard
This is a fantastic geoboard that students can use to demonstrate knowledge of fractions.
Third Grade Week 8
Before your read more, don't forget that this week on Thursday is our annual field trip to the pumpkin patch. If you haven't received a permission slip yet, please let me know and I will send another.
So this week, I think we all had a great time. Due to the benchmark testing and the hard review days, I decided to do a bunch of science. We launched a 50 hot air solar balloon into what seemed to be space. We built and flew paper airplanes and we shot tennis balls out of the tennis ball cannon. The Lobo came to visit as well, reminding us that this week is homecoming week.
Third Grade Week 7
Important information about math homework at the end of this blog post.
This week was fun. We had a 15 minute competition during science to see who could build the tallest structure using toothpicks, clay and in 15 minutes. Below are some of my favorite structures.
